17-Mar-07: Global Grip Challenge 2007

We are holding our Annual Grip Contest in PA this year in Sayre PA. We will contest the regular events, and bending will make a return.

Event 1 - Grippers. Credit Card set or no-set using IronMind Grippers only. We have a complete set of brand new grippers starting with the Guide and Moving up to the 3, 3.5 and 4. 3turns. One effort per turn, like a powerlifting contest. Want to keep it moving this year.

Event 2 - Two-handed pinch lift using official adjustable Euro Pinch - Probably 3 widths will be used: 44mm, 54mm, and 64mm.

Event 3 - Vertical Bar. One inch vertically positioned bar with weight added. It's like pulling a horseshoe stake out of the ground.

Event 4 - Bending - We will use the Reverse technique only, using the Gripboard Rules. Variety of stocks from IronMind, Fat Bastard, along with Grade 5's and 8's will be bent.

Event 5 - Timed hold with Rolling Thunders attached to a Car Deadlift apparatus. It will be just like a farmer's hold, only the handles will be Rilling Thunders and the weights will be added to the Viking Press/Conan's Wheel apparatus. We will get a picture up soon.

The date will be Saturday, August 25, 2007. Hotel information will be posted soon. There's a Best Western right in Sayre and we will be doing shuttles back forth.

At the top right of the page, sign up for the Diesel Newsletter and the Napalm Newsletter so you don't miss any future announcements about the contest.

13-Mar-07: New Block Weight to Train With

Chris Mathison scored a pile of the old style york dumbbells with the globe heads and was generous to send them all over the country for just the cost of shipping. I was lucky enough to get one of the last ones he had.

This is a video of me lifting it. This was no easy feat, let me tell you! It is half of a 60. Chris actually said it weighed in at 32 pounds at the post office!

Thanks again to Chris for sending me this gem!
